The Heatscar Spider is a mob added by Natura that appears in the Nether. It can climb walls and jump like normal spiders, and comes in 2 varieties. The larger species has much more health (50) and the smaller (baby) species is weaker with roughly the same amount of health as a standard Spider. It has a chance to set the target on fire when it inflicts damage, and a chance to drop Flamestring, a component in Natura bows like the Bloodwood Bow. Heatscar Spiders do not drop regular String or Spider Eyes, meaning their benefits beyond using Flamestring to create Nether-bows is far more limited than Overworld Spiders.
Heatscar Spider seem to be able to spawn at any depth in the Nether, however they need a larger area to spawn in. Like Overworld Spiders, Heatscar Spiders are able to spawn as Skeleton Jockeys, only with Wither Skeleton Archers instead... So, they could be called something like...Withering Heatscar Spider Jockeys! Fortunately these are rare, however they are able to spawn OUTSIDE of Nether Fortress boundaries, making them very dangerous.
Combat:
Heatscar Spiders have senses like overworld Spiders and Cave Spiders, meaning they can sense Players through walls and at the same distance away. Hostile Heatscar Spiders will move into range and attempt the pounce on a target, however here is where they differ. Heatscar Spiders, at least the big ones, will often 'bounce' towards their target (you) instead of crawling, meaning they can close the distance very rapidly. Like most mobs, ranged weapons are the easiest way to dispatch them, however their habit of hopping towards you makes Heatscar Spiders difficult to hit. To combat this, there is an easy trick. Heatscar Spiders have very large bodies, 2x2 at least, meaning they need a lot of room to manouver. Simply build a 2-block high pillar (place 2 blocks on top of each other) and stand on the other side of it! For best protection, building a series of pillars near each other so you can stab the spiders from below makes killing them effortless.
